Romans1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:; . Hermans Note;2305 from Theos (2316). God. Divinity, only in Ro 1:20, Divinity or divine power and majesty, a concept arrived at by observing God's mighty works.;" ---------------------------------- Acts17:29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.; . Hermans Note; 2304. Divine, what is uniquely God's and proceeds from Him. An attribute of God such as His power and not His character in its essence and totality. See Acts 17:29; 2 Peter 1:3-4; Sept.: Exodus 31:3; 35:31.;" ------------------------------- Colossians 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.; . Hermans Note; Godhead 2320. noun from Theos (2316), God. Deity, Godhead as directly revealed, God's personality (Colosians 2:9) Jesus is God with the fullness of his personality, character, divine power and majesty, bodily.;" ------------------------------ John 10:24-30 24 Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly. 25  Jesus answered them, . . . . . 30 I and my Father are one.; . Hermans Note; Verse 30 is a response to if you be the Christ then tell us plainly. Part of Jususes response was, not only am I the Christ but I and the father are one. Let's examine this oneness that Jesus is speaking of. When we speak of one God in three persons, what does the Nicene Creed or the Athanasian Creed mean by this term. People often assume that person is used to refer to a separate individual being. However, there is another sense of the word person that focuses not on separate existence but on relationship. This definition is ""one (as a human being, a partnership, or a corporation) that is recognized by law as the subject of rights and duties"". This definition says that a person is defined based on the commonalities of the individuals not their differences. It says that the exceptions to the rule (their differences), does not negate the rule. Thus if one person can consist of three indivduals, then one God can consist of three individuals. This oneness that is spoken of is more than oneness of purpose. Thus, when Jesus says I and the father are one, he is saying the following. I and the father have a common personality, and an equality in power and glory as defined by the godhead. Lets take another look at this equality of Jesus and God, in power and glory. The Declaration of Independence states that all men are created equal. Equality is defined as, they are endowed by their creator with certain inaileinable right. Again, their equality is defined based on what they have in common in the creation process. Their equality is not negated by their differences in the creation process, such as different physical attributes. The bible says God is not a respecter of person. Again, in language we have synonyms, words that have the same meaning, but are spelled differently. That sameness of meaning is despite their differences. All analogies fall apart if carried out far enough. Why is it that it is only in the things of God that we demand absoluteness. Why when pertaining to God do we say, only the Father knows when the end will come. Therefore, Jesus and God are not equal in power. Why do we focus on their differences. Why do we think that that their differences negate their commonalities. Is it because we want our personal biases to be true.;" --------------------------------- Philippians 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:; . Hermans Note; The text here is clear. In some ways Jesus considered himself equal with God. It is scholestic dishonesty to say that the proper enterpretation of the text is ""Jesus did not consider himself equal with God in any way"".;" ------------------------ 1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. ------------------------- 1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.; . Hermans Note; Clearly, the text is talking about Jesus. Who Jesus is, is being referred to as as a mystery. A mystery is a truth where part is revieled and a part remains hiden. Wisdom says that truth discovered is more powerful than truth given (Proverbs 1:6). In addition God said without faith it is imposible to pleae him (Hebrews 11:6). Furthermore, God said that faith is the evidence of things unseen. Nevertheless, the Jews said if you are the Christ then tell us plainly (John 10:24).;" ---------------------------------- Mark 10:17 17 And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? 18  And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God. . 20  And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth.; . Hermans Note; This man called Jesus Good Master. Jesuses response was there is none good but God. The man uderstood Jesus to say either call me God or stop calling me good. The man's response in verse 20 was to stop calling Jesus Good.;" ------------------------- Philippians 2:9-11 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11  Note And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.; . Hermans Note; WORSHIP JESUS. Every knee shall bow means that everyone will worship Jesus. To the glory of God the Father, tells us that worship Jesus is glorifying God the Father. Confess that Jesus is Lord uses the word Curios is used for Lord. Therefore, Jesus Christ is Kurios. This same name is used for Jehovah or Yahweh. Therefore, according to the Septuagint, Lord refers to Yahweh and Lord refers to Jesus, both are translated to Kurios. This is how readers of the old testiment translated the text while reading in the temple. Therefore, God gave Jesus his name, which is above all names. Finally, an interlinear bible is a word-for-word translation of the Greek text. The word ""proskuneo"" means ""to kiss the hand, bow down before, show obeisance, to worship."" Since the Jehovah's Witnesses deny that Jesus is God, they maintain that He is not to be worshipped. So, how does the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society translate the word ""proskuneo"" in their Greek New Testament in reference to Jesus and other objects of adoration? The NWT never translates the word into ""worship"" when it references Jesus. It does, however, render the word as ""worship"" in regards to the devil, the dragon, the beast, the image, demons, idols, and an angel. Of course, they correctly translate it as ""worship"" when it deals with God. Nevertheless, the NASB, NIV, KJV, NKJV, etc., all translate the word as ""worship"" in reference to Jesus. The word ""proskuneo"" occurs 55 times in the Watchtower Kingdom. Interlinear. Of those 55, 15 are in reference to Jesus with 40 used of others. 27% of the usage is of Jesus and not a single reference is translated as ""worship"" even though in reference to the devil, demons, idols, etc., they do translate it as worship.;" Record 10 ";Scripture;John5:23To 23That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him. NIV. Then all people will honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Those who do not honor the Son do not honor the Father, who sent him.;Hermans Note;WORSHIP JESUS. We should give the same honor to the son that we give to the Father. Yes, we honor our earthly father differently than we honor our heavenly father. Here, the text says that we should honor Jesus, not as we honor our earthly father, but as we honor our hevanly father.;" ------------------------ Revelation 5:8, 13-14 8  And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints. . . 13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. 14  And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.; . Hermans Note; WORSHIP JESUS. Every creature which is in the earth worshiped the Lamp which is Jesus.;" ------------------------ Matthew 8:2 And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.; . Hermans Note; WORSHIP JESUS. The leper worshipped Jesus.;" --------------------------- Matthew 9:18 While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.; . Hermans Note; WORSHIP JESUS. A certain ruler worshipped Jesus. In many of the scriptures following this scripture the NIV uses knelt instead of worship. I choose to take a both and approach to this not an either or approach. Why? In other verses where the word ""proskuneo"" is used the word is translated as worship when refering to Jesus.;" ------------------------ Matthew14:33 Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.; . Hermans Note; WORSHIP JESUS. The disciples in the ship worshipped Jesus.;" ----------------------------- Matthew 28:17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.;Hermans Note;WORSHIP JESUS. The disciples worshipped Jesus.;" ---------------------------- Matthew 15:25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.; . Hermans Note; WORSHIP JESUS. A woman of Canaan worshipped Jesus.;" ------------------------- Matthew 28:9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.; . Hermans Note; WORSHIP JESUS. Mary Magdalene and the other Mary worshipped Jesus.;" -------------------------- Matthew 20:20 Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him.; . Hermans Note;WORSHIP JESUS. The mother of Zebedee's children worshipped Jesus.;" ------------------------- Mark 5:6 2 And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, 6 But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,;Hermans Note;WORSHIP JESUS. A man with an unclean spirit worshipped Jesus.;" -------------------- Mark 7:7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.; . Hermans Note; WORSHIP JESUS. Jesus said people worship him.;" --------------------- John20:28-29 28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. 29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.; . Hermans Note; WORSHIP JESUS AS GOD. Thomas worshipped Jesus. Thomas also called Jesus his God. Thomas was an appostle. Jesus did not rebuke Thomas as angels have said do not worship me. Worship God. Instead did the opposite of rebuking Thomas. He praised him acknoweding that Jesus was his God. Although, Thomas only believe after he had seen. Some people see and still do not believe. Nevertheless, others will have a greater blessing, because they believe that Jesus is God, dispite the fact thy lack evidence. This represents clarity of thought and percision of expression. Jesus is God because he is the God of the disciples and they worshipped him as such.;" -------------------------- John8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.; . Hermans Note; Jesus didn't seek to clarify the Jews' misunderstanding of His previous statements. Instead, He made a new statement that anyone who would not accept that Jesus was God in the flesh (1Timothy 3:16) could not possibly understand. ""Before Abraham was, I am."" He not only said that He existed before Abraham, but He also was again associating Himself with the great ""I AM"" statement of Exodus 3:14 (see note 5 at Joh 8:24). This statement could leave no doubt that Jesus was claiming deity in the highest sense of the word. I AM: The ancient Greek phrase is ego emi, which is the same term used in the Greek translation of the Old Testament in Jesus' day to describe the Voice from the burning bush. ""I am,"" meaning I have always been. In using the phrase I AM (John 8:24, 8:58, 13:19) Jesus used a clear divine title belonging to Yahweh alone (Exodus 3:13-14, Deuteronomy 32:39, Isaiah 43:10) and was interpreted as such by Jesus' listeners (John 8:58-59). ""The phrase harbours within itself the most authentic, the most audacious, and the most profound affirmation by Jesus of who He was."" The best proof what Jesus meant by claiming to be the I AM is found by seeing the response of His listeners: They took up stones to throw at Him. They wanted to stone Him for blasphemy, for claiming to be God.;"
