Isaiah 43:10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.; . Hermans Note; The purpose here is to establish a foundation as to who God is. To that end we will investigate scriptures to resolve the apparent contradiction between the following two statements. There is but one God. There are many gods. First I will examin scriptures that state explicitly that there is but one God. Then I will examin scriptures that state implicitly that there are many gods. Then I will examin scriptures that there is only one True God. All others are not true Gods or no God at all. Then I will express a conclusion based on those scriptures. This and the following verses discuss the idea that: There is no god before nor after me.;" ----------------------------- Isaiah 44:6-8 6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. 7 And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them show unto them. 8 Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any." ---------------------------- Isaiah 45:5-7 5 I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: 6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else. 7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things." -------------------------------- Isaiah 45:14 Thus saith the LORD, The labour of Egypt, and merchandise of Ethiopia and of the Sabeans, men of stature, shall come over unto thee, and they shall be thine: they shall come after thee; in chains they shall come over, and they shall fall down unto thee, they shall make supplication unto thee, saying, Surely God is in thee; and there is none else, there is no God. ----------------------------- Isaiah 45:18 For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else. ---------------------------- Isaiah 45:21-22 21 Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me. 22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else." ---------------------------- Acts 19:26 Moreover ye see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul hath persuaded and turned away much people, saying that they be no gods, which are made with hands:; . Hermans Note; All others are false gods which is not a god at all.; ---------------------------- 1 Corinthians 8:4-7 4 As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one. 5 For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) 6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. 7 Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled." -------------------------- Isaiah 44:24 Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself; . Hermans Note; This and the following verses discuss the idea that: God created the universe by himself, alone without any help from anyone. This is in contrast with let us make man, or is it.;" ---------------------- Isaiah 42:8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.; . Hermans Note; Won't give my glory to another helper.; --------------------------- Malachi 2:10 Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers ------------------------- 2 Kings;19:15 Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers ------------------------- Ephesians 4:6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. ------------------------ 1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; ------------------------- Romans 3:3 Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.
