repeat button on ipod app on ipad Dec 4, 2010 6:28 AM Can anyone tell me where to find this? It is driving me slightly batty!. I have 4.2.1 installed. The problem is that when I play a podcast or video the program will play all the way through and then repeat from the beginning again. Before 4.2.1, the ipod would move from one podcast to the next, which, to me, was preferable. I am assuming there is some kind of repeat/shuffle button I need to turn on/off for this function, but I cannot find it in the ipod app or in the settings. (I am hoping/guessing this is an iOS update issue, but there is a small chance it is related to another issue. A few days before the update came out, I had exchanged a non-functioning ipad at the genius bar for a replacement.) Any suggestions as to how to access the repeat/shuffle function on the ipad IN the ipod app or settings greatly welcomed. My Podcasts play right through the list. In fact it annoys me that they do not stop when an episode is over. Once 1 podcast ends, the next one begins without so much as a break in the talk. Unless I am listening closely, I can't even tell where one epidose ends and the next begins. I don't see any settings anyplace which would account for why yours act different. Maybe in iTunes itself? Is it possible that your podcasts are set as "Music" instead of "Podcast" in "Media Kind" (in Info)? Is it possible the podcast itself has internal settings which cause this? - I'm not all that sure on how podcasts actually work. My videos play once then stop at the end and it then flips back to the video screen. But repeating what I have just listened to is irritating. Not being able to find a repeat/shuffle button is really irritating. So, even if I can just get it to move from one podcast to the next, it would be an improvement. Its happening on each podcast I subscribe to, including vodcasts. I've looked at the info in itunes, and the genre is listed as podcasts. I don't, as a rule, adjust any settings for the podcasts when they are downloaded via itunes. So they are just your standard podcasts, including nytimes podcasts, the economist etc. It is odd.Like (0) Level 1 (0 points) DKay29 USA Currently Being Moderated Re: repeat button on ipod app on ipad Dec 6, 2010 5:26 AM (in response to tgif0) I have this problem too. I think the repeat and shuffle buttons disappeared in the latest OS version. They used to appear if you tapped on the screen of a playing podcast. Does anyone know where they were moved to in 4.2.1? So let me repeat: on an iPad, in order to stop a video from repeating forever in the Videos application, you have to turn of shuffle mode in the iPod application (?!). Sounds like a bad bug to me. iPad 64GB, iOS 4 Like (0) Level 7 (23,815 points) Michael Morgan1 Currently Being Moderated Re: repeat button on ipod app on ipad Jan 21, 2011 7:04 AM (in response to vancouveryogi) vancouveryogi wrote: I had the same issue and was able to resolve the problem by during off the shuffle option in the iPod music player. It's part of the ongoing weirdness between the Videos and iPod apps. iMac G5 17" iSight 32GB 3G iPad Shuffles (1G/2G) Nano 5G, Mac OS X (10.5.8) Like (0) Calculating status... Problem: Can't find repeat and shuffle buttons on iPod app in iPad. Solution: Shuffle and Repeat do not show up when playing podcasts (and perhaps some other media types). They do show up when playing music. Even though it affects podcasts, you have to play a song in order to change it. So to adjust the settings when listening to podcasts you must: 1. Stop the podcast 2. Select Music from the Library on the left column 3. Start any song playing 4. Tap the album artwork under Now Playing in the left column 5. Tap the full screen album artwork to show the controls 6. Find the repeat and shuffle controls at opposite ends of the playing progress bar toward the top, and adjust as necessary 7. Navigate back to your podcasts and start the podcast again Hope this helps everyone else from going crazy. - Mark iPad 3G, iOS 4 Like (1) Level 1 (0 points) Mista2 Currently Being Moderated Re: repeat button on ipod app on ipad Apr 24, 2011 4:13 AM (in response to Catrane) Thanks, thats brilliant! I been bugged by this since I got my ipad. I really hope Apple does read their own forums every now and then and fix these sorts of things up before adding new features to sell you more content, but then I've seen issues with messed up cover art on iPhone 4 for months, and none of the updates have fixed that yet. It doesnt take long before my freshly synched albums start showing the wrong covers in cover flow Like (0)
